There are some
colours that I enjoy in nature but not at all on the walls of my home. And
yellow is THE colour I don’t care much for, except if combined with pink. Unfortunately
for me, yellow must have been the favourite colour of the former owners of the
house who had chosen this colour for the kitchen, the staircase, a bedroom and
the entrance hall! Several rooms have been redecorated but Rome was not built in one day, was it? So I had
to compromise with the pale yellow entrance hall adding a few pink touches.
The
little daffodil framed with pink rickrack wishes welcome opposite the front
door.
The hyacinth for which I had a tailor-made frame assembled stands
out well on the yellow wall.
The little cupcake reconciled the greedy thing I am with yellow.
I would not be the best person to consult regarding home decor but in nature yellow is glorious. I can think of both birds and plants with yellow used to stunning effect.
RépondreSupprimerI agree with you, David, yellow in nature is a very beautiful colour and it is hardly ever equalled in decoration, the colour usually loses its natural brightness.
SupprimerHow adorable your embroideries are...Made me smile! So sweet!I love yellow and the "real" Daffodils are stunning too...Hugs,dear Sandrine.
RépondreSupprimerThank you, Maristella! The yellow of daffodils is a real pleasure for the eyes in spring and compensates for the lack of sunshine on grey days. Hugs!
SupprimerA sárga sokáig kedvencem volt a fehérrel. Jó a rózsaszínnel is!!
RépondreSupprimerSzép minták.
Szépek a keretek!!!
RépondreSupprimerThank you, Beáta! Yes, I painted the doors white and it brings a lot of light in the hall and makes the yellow colour less present. The models are by Véronique Enginger, a French designer who makes very accurate embroideries.
SupprimerIsn't is a most wonderful thing we have paint with which to cover yellow walls. I too, am not a fan of the colour on its own. I love it mixed with other colours though. But.....it is always a joyful sight to see a host of yellow daffodils in one's garden in Spring.......and in a pretty cross stitch. I do not know how you stitch all your gorgeous cross stitch pretties in such a short space of time. You are magical! I have no doubt you will have your home just the way you want it within time. It is always a glorious day when I visit you and your beautiful cross stitch pretties.
RépondreSupprimerIt is true that flowers are such a marvel of nature that they reconcile us with any colour. Bunches or entire fields of daffodils are a very expected sight at the end of winter. For the embroideries, I recognize that I spend a lot of time on them, maybe too much but after a day’s work dealing with texts and abstract things, I really feel the need for textures and colours. Thank you very much for your nice comments, Kim! Hugs!
SupprimerYour work is lovely!!
RépondreSupprimerThank you very much, Angela !
Thank you, Nadezhda! I love very intricate frames in a vintage style.
SupprimerSo everyone has their favorite colors. Your narcissus looks beautiful, and the finish is class. Wow, the picture of the hyacinth is a real eye-catcher, great frame.
RépondreSupprimerThank you, Martina! The narcissus was stitched and finished in two days while the more elaborate hyacinth required almost three months! That’s why I took time to find the perfect frame for it.
Supprimer... And I love yellow color :) No, of course not to fanaticism :), within reasonable limits ...
RépondreSupprimerThe color of the sun, especially during our long winter ...
In the colors of the narcissus yellow is great!
Remarkably decorated works :)
Thank you, Irina! I must confess that now that I have added pink touches and replaced the mustard colour on the six doors in the entrance hall by white paint, I find it pleasant to open the front door and enjoy the bright atmosphere of the place!
SupprimerHello, Sandrine! Your embroidery is gorgeous. I just keep admiring both the flowers and the cupcake. :)
RépondreSupprimerYellow is not my favourite colour either, but some (Italian... and French) houses with a "sunnier" yellow are beautiful. They give a happy, Mediterranean feeling. :)
Thank you for your beautiful posts!
Hugs!
Thank you, Sara ! Yes, some shades of yellow can bring light inside or around the house in a warm way. Unfortunately, the shades I discovered in the house were rather tired, faded and dirty ! A few pails of paint were the answer
SupprimerBisous !
Many years ago I painted the walls of our then kitchen a fairly bright yellow . . . I liked it back then but I would not do it again now 🙂
RépondreSupprimerYour hyacinth is quite beautiful. Can I ask, how many hours would it take you to stitch something like that?
Thank you, Jayne! Tastes and trends change with time and it's a good thing, it allows novelty in the house. For the hyacinth, I didn't precisely count the hours of work but they were numerous. I think I embroidered it in about three months, working regularly on it although it was not the only project of the time. I had taken part to a kind of challenge that consisted in publishing the progress of a chosen work on the 15th of every month. I intend to take part again because it's a good incentive to put an end to the umpteen projects that are waiting for their finishes in different little baskets around the house. Have a nice evening! Sandrine
SupprimerDaffodils I love in spring! I grew up on the windowsill! And in your picture)) Hyacinth remember perfectly! Glad to find a suitable frame for him! I also don’t really like yellow color, but after a long winter I just want yellow!
RépondreSupprimerYou can not tease the cupcake, I wanted to lose weight)))
Thank you, Tatyana! Daffodils "fluttering and dancing in the breeze", as William Wordsworth wrote so romantically, really herald spring and their soft yellow colour is a delight for the eyes. This cupcake is harmless and calorie-free, although embroidering such sweet things is at time a torture for me who should also lose a few kilos:((
SupprimerBeautiful stitching ,I love all flowers and cakes so for me your post is wonderful.
RépondreSupprimerThank you, June! Flowers and cakes are both among my favourite subjects for embroidery too, they allow the use of such beautiful colours!
Bisous
SupprimerOh, I love this!

Thank you, Ida! I am happy you appreciate. Wishing you a nice evening, Sandrine
SupprimerPiękny haft:))
RépondreSupprimerThank you very much, Dorothy!
SupprimerFabulous handiwork! I don't have the patience any more :)
RépondreSupprimerThank you, Betty! The beautiful photos you take also require patience. There are so many pleasant things to do that we are sometimes forced to make a choice. Have a nice day!
